About Me

From a family full of creative people, I love to learn, create and explore. Born in Cape Town, I love the outdoors, the seaside, colour, texture and food. I finished primary school in England and then went to Simon Langton Grammar School for Girls in Canterbury, Kent. At  Brighton University I studied Interior Architecture, and then moved on to study International Event Management. After working in the Events industry for a while, my desire to learn brought me back into education, this time teaching it. Alongside working in a handful of outstanding Prep schools in  London and Canterbury, Kent, I worked as a Private Tutor. Although I love the school environment for many reasons, I have found my 1-2-1 and small group tutoring the most rewarding, for both myself and the student.

I am now pursuing this passion as a full time Tutor, working as a Governess, Vacation Tutor and online or in-person Private Tutor. I am based in London.

KS2 Maths Tutoring (Yrs 3-6)

Common Entrance 7+, 8+, 11+ , SATs, ISEB, National Curriculum

As Mathematics is a hierarchical subject, if a concept is a little wobbly, further learning can become confusing and can lead to a knock in confidence.

Maths can be frustrating; concepts can be hard to understand at first and often it just takes a little bit of time and effort to get a student to the point of understanding. We all have different ways of learning and I understand the importance of quickly discovering how my students learn, to enable me to communicate and teach effectively. As a Cognitive Coach, I use approaches to learning that will not only fill in those gaps to help it all make sense, your child will take away approaches to independent learning and problem-solving to use in all areas of their lives.

“Erin was absolutely brilliant with Charlotte, her sessions were fun and full of energy. It didn’t feel like tutoring, it felt like a fun club. Charlotte’s confidence was boosted hugely in maths and her scores reflected this. We are very grateful to Erin for being such a positive influence in maths.” Antonia, Charlotte’s Mum

"I have had the pleasure of recommending Erin as a private tutor to many of the families who’s children I have taught over the past 7 years. Erin has a natural flair as a teacher, and has the ability to quickly ascertain what each child individually needs. She has become a firm favourite of many children I know who have had lessons with her. She has supported the development of confidence among all her students and assisted with very successful examination result for 11+" -  Head of Mathematics, London Prep school

"My daughter always comes away full of energy and smiling after her sessions. Erin's lessons are fun, and she uses her creative resources to help explain a maths problem so it isn't just numbers and words!" - Happy Mum and Daughter, London.
